Happy New Year!

Oh my goodness, where have I been? Working too hard and not concentrating on my blog. Well, this is one New Year's resolution that I hope to keep up with this year.

I am keeping my fingers crossed and will make a good attempt of blogging more often throughout 2011. You see, I started this blog in August of 2009, ha HA you are saying . . . what happened? Well, I am not quite sure exactly what happened, but all I can say is that LIFE happened. Between work and my family and perhaps a little bit of being shy or timid or not sure of "doing this thing" I backed away. . . all the while kept saying to myself and a few friends, I WANT to BLOG!!

So here goes . . . Over the holiday break, I posted on my facebook account a few photos of my front door holiday decor. You see, I had painted a five foot wooden Santa who stands beside my door. He greets all my holiday visitors holding a magnolia filled wreath! Oh and let's not forget about his little wooden birdie friend who sits on his shoulder. I had so much fun painting this Santa a couple years ago. My father was awesome and had cut out all the pieces and parts. If you look closely, you will see that his arm and hand holding the wishing star staff, his moustache and fur on his hood are all dimensional wood pieces. I had painted a textured background and then accented with folk style roses. Tell me what do you think?

I also had fun creating the hand painted Santa that I added to my front door wreath. He is made of resin consisting of crushed pecan shells mixed with a polyester resin and poured into a mold. When I got him, he was solid chocolate brown color. I painted him and when dry applied an antiquing glaze to provide some character.

I thank you for checking out these two Santas. Tomorrow I will share a close up and an overall look of my front porch! Happy New Year to one and all.
